Some seconds after starting TX (even tune) the output power drops for a short time. The same time, the TCVR AGC signal increses a lot. The power and current protection of my LDMOS PA is activated and shuts the PA down. Obviously JTDX transmits a very short high audio, the AGC reacts and decreases the output power of the TCVR. The same happens with the internal sound card of TS-590 and DIGI-Keyer-II. Switching to standard audio I cannot recognise big signal. It does not happen when sending with WSJT-X or starting Tune of TS-590sg.
Has somebody any idea or hint ? 73, DG5LP

Have you set up your audio correctly? Follow the FT8Noise paper at the top of my QRZ page. www.qrz.com/db/w9mdb

Thanks, I will follow. Strange, that using the same audio chanel, the issue does not happens with WSJT-X, only JTDX.

I played a lot with the audio settings. Everything seems to be OK. The transmit spike occurs always at sec.7 when transmitting FT8. Very strange...

If this is 0.7 then what is Your average Lag value or does this spike occur after positive Lag value in current period??
More general question, how you control output power? From jtdx power slider or from rig power control?

Sorry it happens after 7 sec (not 0.7s) about in the mittle of transmission. I checked the setting from w9mdb, but it was OK. JTDX power slide: 100%, Soundcard output level: maximum. If used with TS590sg USB, ACC2 input level: 1 (minimum). If used with Micro-Ham interface, I can set th level to a small ALC level (2 strikes).
I wil try with an external USB-sound card and will measure the output signal, if I can detect a spike there. Listening to the outpus signal over speaker (if I set standard output) I cannnot hear any spike.

Here's another test to try... Set JTDX power down -3dB Open the sound device manager, select the rig's audio playback, right-click on the level and select "%". This will exaggerate the audio level as -3dB is 50%. Then watch the LED meter while you transmit and see if the meter jumps. If it does that would indicate either JTDX is sending something or some other app is sending something. #1 What version of JTDX? #2 What audio device do you have selected for the default? #3 In the Communications tab have you picked "Do nothing" ?

Soundcard output level: maximum is 99% problem place. I believe ALC in rig controls the power, try decrease output level of soundcard until You see real power drop.

Hi, it seems that deselecting "Output Power" in the Radio configuraion (TS590sg) of JTDX solves the problem. I do not know, why it was selected. Thanks for your help Geza, DG5LP

Hmm, it points that getting output power via CAT has problem. There should be some general CAT Polling problem. Which version of JTDX?

All it should be doing is sending an "SM0;" command to get power.
#1 Do you have beep turned on?

It seems, it will get the maximum power and not the current one. I limited it to 10W, my LDMOS needs 1W for 400-500W output. A -10dB attenuator is used. I had luck that the protection of PA was fast enough to protect the LDMOS device.. I did not found beep switch. Is in TCVR?

Done. Further if You need decrease power then from jtdx power slider. With PA jtdx can show anyway only power that goes out from rig, so it is waste to switch it on.

Hi, it seems that the CAT command SM0 (reading the S-meter) failed. During transmission, on some reason it sets the output power for a very short time to maximum. All soundcard settings were on maximum, so the high transmission could not come from the soundcard. I suppose it is a HAMLIB error or a failure of the CAT-interface implementation the SM0 command of TS-590. I will try it with anoter TCVR.
