Hi All: I think this is the right forum... I'm a linux person (Opensuse LEAP) and I've had my General license for a few years and only recently found out about these long-distance HF digital modes. I was able to set up and use WSTJ-x for my FT-991a (from a youtube video) on a second Win10 laptop I have (more info on Win setup is available on the net). WSTJ-x would only rarely would show the country of the sender, however. But then I found JTDX it always shows the country - which is very helpful for a DX newbie. I more or less copied the USB/Audio settings from WSTJ-x (it's a fork, right?) into JTDX and I thought everything was working fine but suddenly I'm having trouble responding to CQs. I enable transmit, then double click on the CQ call (either in the left or right list), then JTDX starts to transmit, but then will stop transmitting after about 1 second. If I re-enable transmit during the same 15-sec. cycle (or some other cycle), I get the same behavior. Nobody else is responding to the CQ: they're still calling CQ - so I don't know why transmit is self-disabling.
Can anyone point me in the right direction - are my settings giving me this odd behavior?
Thank You Very Much! Patti W7PMS
By the way, thank you very much for forking JTDX - it's excellent software, really excellent. The dB gain of JT8 is just mind-boggling. So is the full-band parallel demodulating. I kind of think of it as a 21st-century Morse Code - except much more sensitive.

How do you have your PTT set up? If you turn down the power with the power slider all they does it still misbehave?

How do you have your PTT set up? If you turn down the power with the power slider all they does it still misbehave? Thank you very much for the reply. I have the PTT side set up as RTS; COM6; USB; "Fake It" That worked as expected for WSTJ-X. There's no change for whatever power setting I set on the JTDX slider. But I notice that the dB meter is pegged at 90dB (both the colored band and the krell). I just verified that WSTJ-X works as expected - it transmits correctly and the dB meter bounces around during receive, but in JTDX, the color in the Enable Tx button disappears and the "monitor" button gets colored after about 1 second following a double-click on a CQ call. I also noticed that in WSTJ-X the waterfall plot stops rolling during Tx, but it doesn't in my JTDX. I was hoping this was the result of a simple setting I'd got wrong. EDIT: I tried installing JTDX 158 and get the same issue. So it's probably a setting I have or have not made or made incorrectly? EDIT2: I tried installing the 32-bit audio version - same behavior - except the dB meter is up at about 180dB (but not pegged at max).

I had the same issue with JTDX and WSJTx, switched off transmit after a second or so,while MSHV worked OK. Then we (tnx for help 9A5CW) downloaded and seted up Omni-Rig and changed RIG in JTDX setup to OmniRig and every thing worked fine ever since. Last week my PC died, after Windows recovery I wanted to reinstal JTDX,but now after start, the JTDX program showing both windows(Main and Wide graph window)for a second and disapearing from the screen. If I start it again I get info in a small window saying: Error Killing jtdxjt9.exe process KillByName return code:0 OK if I press OK program shows both windows again for a second and disapear again! The WSJTx and MSHV after reinstal working fine.
