My old 2m rig does not have CAT control and I have Rig: None selected in Settings with DTR to control the PTT. Using Omni-Rig. On June 4, 2022 I installed install_omnirigv21 with no change in behavior. This problem didn't start until recently using JTDX v2.2.159-32A (maybe by coincidence).
I had to place the PTT Method = VOX to stop the error but now I can't transmit. I will check the level adjustment of the VOX and see if I can get it to work. The rig microphone works ok in VOX mode but maybe the rear panel audio input from JTDX doesn't work in VOX mode.
I also tried checking the Share PTT Port to see if that has any effect. Seems to be working ok for now but it does work intermittently without any changes to the settings. This I did not try previously. I would look up and see the rig in transmit when not intending to and it was necessary to exit JTDX then restart it.
Any help is appreciated.

If your rig has no CAT, the settings of PTT = DTR does not make sense. DTR is a signal pin of a serial port - but as you say, you do not have one in your rig. The Hamlib error shows up, because you have set PTT = DTR - but where is your COM5 - what does it do ? VOX may not work either, because on most rigs the rear data port (audio in) does not support VOX (see manual). Be aware that OmniRig 2.1 www.hb9ryz.ch/omnirig/ is not fully compatible with the original OmniRig 1.2 by www.dxatlas.com/omnirig/ , such update, in fact, it's a different software by another author, may create more troubles. For further help you have to tell what rig and what interface you are using. 73's de OE1MWW Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang. The rig is Icom IC-251A (from the '80s), the hardware control is homebrew and rig control software is HamLib (not Omnirig, I mispoke). A rig with no CAT can use DTR or RTS to key the transmitter relay. I'm using a MOS-N power transistor to do this as they are so easy to work with. I have not tried using VOX since DTR was working fine for the past two or three years and I avoid the subjective audio level setting to get VOX to work. I installed a 2-port RS-232 interface card in the pc using Com10 to provide rig control for operating PSK-31 back in the day. Com5 is virtual and for frequency controlling my SDRuno or SDR Console software when I enable the CAT functionality of JTDX.
I operated 2m last night for a couple hours with JTDX and didn't have a single hiccup.
