OK, let's give it a go. This is roughly what the AutoSeq menu options do, based on my limited understanding at this point:
0 Call none
Don't respond automatically to anyone who answers my CQ calls, or just calls me. I must manually double-click a decode (or enter a callsign, select Tx2 or Tx3 and click Enable Tx) to respond to someone.
If this menu option is selected, the AutoSeq button is labelled "AutoSeq0" and can be selected (green) or de-selected (pink) [... but I'm not sure that makes any difference!]
1 Call first
Respond automatically to the first decoded message from someone calling me (typically a strong signal on a clear frequency).
The AutoSeq button is labelled "AutoSeq1". When the button is selected (green), the autoresponder is active. When de-selected (pink) it is disabled.
2 Call decoded till start of TX interval
Respond automatically to someone calling me, choosing [somehow - I'm not sure how] among the decodes available at the start of the next cycle. Late decodes are ignored.
The AutoSeq button is labelled "AutoSeq2". When the button is selected (green), the autoresponder is active. When de-selected (pink) it is disabled.
3 Call based on end of decoding
Respond automatically to someone calling me, choosing [somehow] among all decodes including any late ones (e.g. very weak signals decoded on the second decoding pass) even if this means changing the message after I have started transmitting, within the sync period - the first few seconds.
The AutoSeq button is labelled "AutoSeq3". When the button is selected (green), the autoresponder is active. When de-selected (pink) it is disabled.
Answer worked B4 calls
Tick this to respond automatically to callers even if I have already worked and logged [i.e. they are listed in the ADIF log file i.e. [on Windows] %localappdata%/JTDX/wsjtx_log.adi [all duplicates or only dupes on the same band and mode??]
Un-tick it to callously ignore duplicate callers (some of whom may not have logged the previous QSO or simply want another QSO).
----------------------------------------
4+ call and search through CQ messages
Select [somehow] between stations calling me (e.g. replying to my CQs) or calling CQ themselves, and respond automatically to them
Call worked B4 callsigns
Respond automatically to someone CQing, even if I have already logged them ??
Call higher than new calls priority callsigns
Respond to 'new ones' who are CQing, even if there are lower priority callers calling me ??
----------------------------------------
Report message priority
Display the priority levels assigned to decodes - somewhere??
Max distance instead of best SNR
Choose the most distant stations who reply to my CQs, rather than the strongest & clearest ones i.e. favour DX over locals.
----------------------------------------
Single shot QSO
Complete a QSO then stop transmitting e.g. disable Tx and don't call anyone else or CQ again until I select a Tx message and click Enable Tx ??
Auto RX frequency Filter --> [opens a submenu]
Enable
Tick this to have the decoder try extra hard to find and decode signals at or near the current RX frequency (wherever the green inverted goalposts are on the waterfall), paying less attention to signals on other frequencies.
Switch filter OFF at sending 73
Tick this to stop focusing myopically on the TX frequency when I send a Tx5 73 message at the end of a QSO, decoding the whole passband equally well.
Switch filter OFF at getting 73
Tick this to stop focusing myopically on the TX frequency when I receive someone's Tx5 73 message at the end of our QSO, decoding the whole passband equally well.
Is that about right? Close or wide of the mark? Accurate enough and helpful or misleading and confusing? I am uncertain about various bits of it, so corrections, clarifications and better explanations are welcome!
