I use a Yaesu FTDX 1200 with a SCU 17 interface into my Windows 11 computer and I use JTDX version 2.2 156. Up to four days ago everything was working fine and then suddenly no output power (rig is set at 20w). I had not changed any of the JTDX settings. The rig gives 100w out on all bands when connected to a dummy load. A friend has the identical settup and he tested my SCU 17 and it worked fine. I have restored my PC to a date when everything was fine but this made no difference. The CAT control and PTT function in the settings menu all work fine. I have substituted the USB cable to the PC but it made no difference. I deleted and reinstalled my JTDX software and at the moment get about 7w output when the rig is set on 20w. I am no computer expert but can follow simple instructions! Any ideas??? Lynton G4XCQ

#1 Run mmsys.cpl to bring up the Sound manager. When transmitting the bar graph on your device should show almost full scale when JTDX is transmitting at full power #2 Find your audio device in the list, right-click and select Properties. #3 In the Levels tab right-click the slider and select "decibels". Ensure the slider is set at 0dB (or as close as you can get) #4 In Enhancement tab check "Disable all enhancements" #5 In Advanced tab select 16-bit 48000 Hz and uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

Hi Mike Thanks for the prompt reply. Point 1 There is no indication on the bar graph next to the Codec speakers display when transmitting at full power. Point 2 Done. Point 3 Slider set at 0 dB. Point 4 All enhancements disabled Point 5 16 bit 48000 Hz selected, and allow applications unchecked. Output power now 16w with rig still set on 20W. Lynton

Then it sounds like your USB audio chain is corrupted. Go into Device Manager, View/Show hidden devices, expand the Audio entries, uninstall all devices in the list, reboot. Names of devices may change.

What does the Sound manager level meter show? Should be almost full scale.

Do you mean the slider to acheive 0dB? If so mine is at max(over to the right on my display). Pardon my ignorance if I have this wrong.

Mike I may have stumbled on to the problem and of course it would be my fault! The level for the mic gain can be set when the rig is receiving but this (I have discovered) is not the same when the rig is transmitting so they can be set independantly. I could not understand why the SCU 17 had to be turned up so high to get any TX power out. So with the rig in TX and the mic gain turned to its factory setting I can turn down the setting on the SCU 17 and still acheive 20W output. I am sure the processes you described to me have helped as there seemed to be duplicates of the devices shown in device manager. After deletion and a reboot there are only one of each. May I say thanks so much for your help and if there are any further developments I will keep you posted. So I have learned not to start twiddling all the controls indescriminately when things are going wrong HI. Once again many thanks hope to catch you on the bands one day. Cheers Lynton G4XCQ

Your slide should say 0dB for most all rigs. You don't want any gain or attenuation in digital space if you can avoid it. Check Windows Services and see if you have "Waves Audio Service" -- if you do disable it.
