i wonder if anybody has figured out a way to work FD using tx macros or other for the exchange?

While you can probably do it with macros, each QSO would be a nightmare since you would have to select each response from the macros.
For FD you are better off using WSJT-X or MSHV, they both have contest setup which include field day.
