JTDX Feature Request1. Merge QSO and waterfall windows into one (see photo). 2. Show CPU % usage. 3. Implement automated remote antenna tuner activation when changing bands (like implemented in VarAC). I forget to press the tune button on my Icom IC-7300 to activate my Icom remote auto tuner when changing bands with unpleasant consequences. JTDX is a fantastic program, thank you for all your efforts! 73

As a long time beta-tester, let me comment on your wish list:
Remark: the picture you are showing is the forked version named 'JTDX_improved', maybe you can ask the author & designer of that software.
for 1.): JTDX is a forke of WSJT-X. The GUI is based on the Qt library. Merging the windows would need complete redesign of the GUI and that may create a size problem on devices like laptops, small screens etc. This was the reason that the software was designed from the very beginning with two windows.
for 2.) could be possible - but decoding of FTx signals is a very power consuming task. Any additional info on the screen would consume more and additional CPU power. Mac and Windows having such tools included.
for 3.) has been said many times that additional functions should be implemented with other software. There had been a zillion ideas, what additional functions and options could be implemented. You may find many different tuners, many different interfaces - a never ending story. And btw., an 'Antenna Tuner' does not tune the antenna, it will tune the vehicle, consisting of the cable + something called 'antenna'. Good SWR, but reflections = losses in the cable.
The core idea why we a having a fork of WSJT-X is:
+++ JTDX means "JT modes for DXing", it is being developed with main focus on the sensitivity and decoding efficiency, both, in overcrowded and half empty HF band conditions." +++

JTDX Feature Request1. Merge QSO and waterfall windows into one (see photo). Will even not think about doing this. Every platform (Linux,Mac win has its own principles of calculating CPU usage, don’t see any need to have it done in jtdx. Have’t checked, if hamlib has support to activate tuner for rigs, then it is possible and probably will add option to try activate tuning on band change in jtdx.

Greetings.
From my personal - end user - point of view, if it "is the forged version named 'JTDX_improved' then consequently "JTDX" string by no means should be allowed to use as part of name of that "forged" software!!!

Tom, there is no way to prohibit this (not to be allowed)
There is now 'JTDX' and 'JTDX_improved'
jtdx_improved is based on the freely available source code of jtdx_2.2.159 and this
is based on WSJT-X. As long as the rules of the 'GPL3' license are followed, I think
this is OK. We shouldn't make the mistake again, of making mutual 'enemies' of each
other group, like it happened when JTDX was in the early making.
But there were no winners.

Hello Wolfgang.
Having the right, I disagree with such approach, but that's my problem, right?
If "christmas fair" look&feel means improvement then there's something weird. Main window cluttered by a lot of unneeded buttons? What for? Give me a break, please...
Simplicity and usefulness are the best, always!
Are you sure that using the word "forged" you meant exactly falsified??? Or rather "forked", meaning of which is completely different???
I do have some more thoughts on this subject but need to verify first.

Tom, good to see that you had fun with my typo. The meaning was clear, sorry for that, I have corrected my post.
If you don't like it, still "taste is in the eye of the beholder". And the criticism will not change anything, except to create bad moods.

Hello Wolfgang.
I just spotted possibly incorrect wording and showed it to you, nothing more. Besides, "I disagree" is not equal to "I don't like".
You're mistaken, without criticism World will stop evolve! Discussion diverted far from original post. Time to cease.
