I was trying to explain to a local why stations ending /R at -26 are 99.9% most likely a false decode, but soon realized I had no idea of the detail. Can anyone explain why the /R suffix is often at the end of a false (positive) decode please? Thanks

-26 decodes are always suspicious, especially when qso rx sensitivity is set to high. /R should not play any part.
